Walter Koenig Talks Trek Movie & Anton Yelchin
Of all the original Star Trek cast members, Walter Koenig seems to have been the one with least to say about the new movie and the actor who will essentially be bringing a different take to the role of Chekov, which he originated back in 1967.
In a recent video interview for Roddenberry.com’s The quiet Walter Koenig gave his opinions about the movie and also about his meeting with Anton Yelchin that the actor seemed to enjoy.
“I think the movies a great idea and I hope they really do a terrific job,” he declared. “I have no reason to believe they won’t. I know JJ Abrams is a very sharp guy and he’s obviously extremely successful – and the cast I got to visit on the set all seemed to be very confident, very good performers and very interesting personality’s. So I’m sure that they will have a good film.”
With regards to meeting Anton Yelchin Koenig has nothing but good things to say about the actor.
“I talked to Anton. He came by and actually spent a couple of hours talking. He’s a very ingenious pleasant young man. He already has a career – I mean he is quite well established and seems to be building quite a career for himself as an actor.”
When asked about negative fan experiences Koenig revealed that he has never really had a negative experience with fans. Though he did reveal that one of his pet gripes were bloggers on the Internet who claim to be an authority on subjects when they really no nothing about the subjects that they’re blogging about.
“I want to sit them down and tell them to go take a class before they start critiquing.”
