Trek Will Satisfy Says Pine

By Ian M. Cullen

In a recent video interview for About.com, actor Chris Pine, who plays Captain James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie, said that fans would be satisfied with the movie.

“The little bits and pieces that I’ve seen of it are fantastic, and I think what JJ has done with it is… I think he’s made it accessible for people who aren’t fans and think it will satisfy most of them. It’s a pretty tough job trying to please all the fans I’m sure, but I think the majority of them will see traced of the old in it, and be happy with the new things we’ve brought.”

When asked about taking on a role, which was originated by William Shatner, Pine admitted that he was a little worried to start off with.

“It was certainly daunting, but JJ set these parameters at the beginning, and essentially those parameters were just be you. Play you; bring your own unique take on the part. In many ways it’s a lose, lose thing, because people love Shatner, and of course they would love Mr Shatner he did a great job, but all I can promise is that I did my best, and I think what I did is true to myself, true to the character and hopefully will resonate with some people.”

Trekmovie.com also has some snippets from a recent interview with Chris Pine, which was done for Star Trek: Magazine, which is out now in the USA. In the interview Pine promises fans, that they will have fun with the new movie.

“There was a lot of humor and a lot of action in it, but what really got me about the role were two pivotal scenes at the beginning of the movie that lays out James T. Kirk to a T. Those were the most exciting scenes, and the ones I was most looking forward to taking on.”
