Dr. Horrible Sequel In the Works
Whedon told MTV News that the work on a sequel is just starting.
“We’re in there plugging. The writers are trying to put something together,” Whedon said, referring to his Dr. Horrible collaborators brothers Zack and Jed Whedon and sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen. “We haven’t even decided on a venue. We have a story and we’re working that. We’re just starting with that.”
The original musical about an evil scientist, the woman at the laundromat he loved, an the pompous superhero who is his arch-nemesis, which premiered for free online in July 2008, starred Neil Patrick Harris in the title role, Nathan Fillion and Captain Hammer, and geek goddess Felicia Day as the sweet, soulful Penny. Each has indicated on numerous occasions that they would be thrilled to be in a sequel.
Whedon said that he can’t give people any more details because they were still in the early stage of development. He did indicate that they are considering whether to present it in a multi-episode, online venue again, or as a one-shot movie.
“Doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, [we're just] just figuring out the story,” he explained. “We’re really excited about what it is. More, I cannot say.”
