‘Marvel Heroes’ MMO Game Announced

Marvel are looking set to follow the path of DC by releasing a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game. The game was announced by Gazillion Entertainment earlier this week and has been in development at the studio for quite some time.
The game has some of Marvel Comics best writing and artistic talents behind it.
Brian Michael Bendis who presently writes Marvels Avengers title will be providing a script for this game in which players take control of established Marvel Comics heroes, including Deadpool, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man and Spider-Man.
Of course in 2010 DC teamed up with Sony in order to release their MMO DC Universe Online, which has been a huge hit for them and has recently gone free to play.
DC Universe Online chief producer Wes Yanagi recently told the Digital Spy website that he welcomed the competition from Marvel.
“Any growth in the general popularity of comic book properties as well as other MMO titles is great for DC Universe Online. The success of movies like The Dark Knight have reignited the genre and a whole new demographic is suddenly engaging with these characters,” he said.
“There are several new movies in the works as well as other games like the [Marvel MMO] all in production. Any comic book game or movie that comes out and delivers a high quality entertainment experience to the fans is a positive for all of us.”
Marvel Heroes is expected to be released for PC in 2012. Console releases are yet to be confirmed.
