Aliens Vs. Wizards: ‘Doctor Who Meets Harry Potter’

Even though Russell T. Davies has currently withdrawn from working directly with television programming, one of his shows has been given the green light by the CBBC.

Aliens Vs. Wizards, described as ‘Doctor Who meets Harry Potter‘, is a welcome series, especially if it carries the touch of Davies, but the co-creator is also a happy addition: Phil Ford, head writer of The Sarah Jane Adventures and co-writer of Doctor Who’s ‘The Water of Mars’.

According to Bleeding Cool, fellow Sarah Jane writers Gareth Roberts (writer of Who‘s ‘The Shakespeare Code’) and Joseph Lidster (Torchwood‘s ‘A Day in the Death’) are also contributing scripts. The series will consist of twelve two-part half hour episodes and will be set in the present day.

If this series is half as good as The Sarah Jane Adventures, it will be more than welcome in my house. Hopefully the CBBC will see fit to get this new series aired in the U.S. as well, since North America is still waiting to see the final installments of Sarah Jane.
