‘Doctor Who – Eternity Clock’ Voted One Of 12 Most Anticipated Console Games Of 2012

It would seem that Doctor Who has managed to pretty much cross over throughout most forms of media since the series returned in 2005, but the one market it has not really made a great impression on is the gaming console market.
Until recently most the console games for Doctor Who have been mostly puzzles with very little in the way of story or action adventure. The only action adventure that has been on offer for Doctor Who fans has been mostly through the games developed for the official BBC Doctor Who site, which although very good depend on you having a fairly fast computer.
All this is due to change because later this year games consoles will get a taste of a Doctor Who adventure, but as apposed to controlling The Doctor and Amy Pond via the mouse and keyboard you’ll be able to control the characters and everything that they interact with via a control pad, which is much easier.
The new game, which is being developed by BBC Worldwide and is the first of a three game series that will run initially on all Sony Gaming devices, which includes the Playstation 3 and the fairly new Playstation Vita Handheld console.
Sony are so excited about this game that they have recently revealed it to be one of their 12 most anticipated games for 2012 via the the Playstation Blog. This is no mean fete given that among the games listed our the hugely anticipated Max Payne 3 and Motor Storm RC. The latter of which is a hugely successful sequel to one of the games titles that helped launch the console back in 2006.
Below is how the Playstation Blog described the game:
As the longest-running science fiction TV show in the world, Doctor Who will materialise this year on PlayStation 3 in a thrilling adventure game. Featuring a mysterious being known as the Doctor, hostile aliens, Earth-shattering plots and time travel, who wouldn’t want to play a Doctor Who game?
Take control of the Timelord and his feisty companion River Song on a journey through space and time where your actions in one era can influence events in another…
As a self respecting fan of Doctor Who I’m very tempted to try this game as and when it becomes available. In fact its given me reason to keep hold of my Playstation 3, which is mostly used as a back up Blu Ray player these days. In the meantime we can all check out the teaser trailer below and sigh.
