George Lucas Done with Blockbusters
Your fears may have just been confirmed, or your prayers answered: In a New York Times interview, George Lucas has said that “Red Tails” is his last blockbuster film and then he’s returning to his roots in art house filmmaking.
He’s heard your complaints, fandom, and he’s done making more “Star Wars” adventures. “Why should I make any more when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a horrible person you are?” he asked. So you won’t have to worry about Episodes VII, VII, or IX.
However, there is an archeologist that may still be in his future. Lucas was “careful to leave himeself out a clause (to make) a fifth ‘Indiana Jones’ film.”
Rick McCallum, Lucas’ producer of more than 20 years says, “Once (‘Red Tails’) is finished, he’s done everything he’s wanted to do.”
Everything but give Indy fans the exit they need to see, me included! I’m crossing my fingers that it will happen and be good. I’m even willing to recite “Kali mal” several times and appropriate any hearts that become obstacles in the creation of another Indy film.
