Dan DiDio: No Wally West Or Donna Troy Coming

No matter how many times fans of Wally West ask Dan DiDio, he still says, “No!”

Just as he did several times at last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, DiDio has again said the the original Kid Flash will not be seen in DC Comics’ ‘New 52′ during the recent Mega-Con in Florida, according to Bleeding Cool.

So why won’t West or Donna Troy, the original Wonder Girl, appear?

DiDio said that their counterparts The Flash (Barry Allen) and Wonder Woman had been made younger during the recent relaunch, and the publisher didn’t want to entirely reboot West and Troy’s origins stories.
The publisher did say that the focus was currently on its core characters, but that this did not mean the other characters had been permanently erased.

Darkseid, on the other hand, will fare much better.

DiDio said that the evil New God will play an ongoing role in the events of the DC Universe. Darkseid will return as a greater threat, forcing more superheroes to unite in what may be the first major crossover of the relaunch, following his role in the first arc of Justice League.

In other news, cartoonist Ben Caldwell has teased his own New Gods project for DC.

DC is apparently smiling on the New Gods!
