‘Kick Ass-2′ Films This Summer

Creator Mark Millar spoke with The Daily Record revealing that the super-hero sequel will begin filming this summer.

A new writer and director have been settled upon, but have not yet been named. The sequel has been up in the air since director and co-scripter of the original ‘Kick-Ass’ Matthew Vaughn and co-scripter Jane Goodman have been unable to commit.

“We shoot ‘Kick-Ass 2′ and ‘American Jesus’ this summer,” Millar stated. And, what is ‘American Jesus’? “It is the reverse of ‘The Omen’, which is about a kid who finds out he is the Anti-Christ. This is a kid who finds out he’s Jesus.”

Well, it’s good to see that Millar is stepping away from controversial stories and doing something that won’t ruffle anyone’s feathers, wrote the writer with tongue firmly in cheek.

The original ‘Kick-Ass’ was made for $30,000,000 and had a final worldwide gross of $96,188,903, so a sequel was looking good, but it has taken some time. I’ll be there opening day when it final hits theaters in 2013.
