Their latest announcement involves their remake of the cult 80s series Beauty And The Beast, which was largely responsible for helping launch the careers of Ron Pearlman and Linda Hamilton. Much like that version of the show the CW’s version will also be set in the present day and have elements of the procedural mixed in with a more romance centres storyline.

According to Hollywood Reporter the choice to play the role of the shows proverbial Beauty is Kristin Kreuk who is best known to genre fans for her role of Lana Lang in the hit Smallville series, which closed out its 10 year run in May of 2011.

This new take on Beauty and the Beast is penned by Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper who will also serve as executive producers alongside Paul J. Witt, C. Anthony Thomas, Ron Koslow and Bill Haber. Gary Fleder is on board to direct the pilot.
