Marc Guggenheim Scripting Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Perry Mason’

Looks like the star of the Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes films has another franchise in mind!

Marc Guggenheim, a well-known comics writer who worked on last summer’s Green Lantern, is in now negotiations to write a script that would bring fictional defense lawyer Perry Mason to the big screen, according to THR. Guggenheim is said to be working from an original story that Downey and his Team Downey production company president David Gambino had set in 1930s Los Angeles.

So, just who is Perry Mason?

He’s a lawyer who originally appeared in novels, radio and film, but was most famously played by Raymond Burr during a TV series named after the character from 1957 to 1966.
