It has been revealed that some new blood will be writing for IDW’s ongoing True Blood comic.

According to the HBO Online Store the creative team on True Blood Series 4. The ongoing will be written by ‘Green Arrow’ writer Ann Nocenti and “True Blood” actor Michael McMillian with creative collaboration from “True Blood” producer Alan Ball and art by Michael Gaydos.

IDW initially posted a pre order link for this series of books on their facebook page. At present there are no details about the direction the story will take in the comic book series or how it will link to the critically acclaimed HBO television show.

Ann Nocenti has only recently returned to comics after a 15-year break and made her return with the New 52′s “Green Arrow.” Back in 2011 the writer waxed excitedly to CBR about her return to comics.

“I did a monthly for DC, “Kid Eternity,” but I’m having all these flashbacks to writing “Daredevil” and the affectionate bond that develops between you and your character and how they’re always in your head,” Nocenti told CBR News. “Everywhere you go and everything you do, it’s sort of like they become your pal; they’re hanging out in your head! [Laughs] It’s a really sweet feeling to have this heroic buddy that you carry around with you; when I do things, he’s always there. I don’t quite have that feeling yet, completely, for Green Arrow, because I’ve only just started. I remember over the years with Daredevil, he became quite real for me. It’s a lot of fun.”

Michael McMillian co-wrote the second series of IDW’s True Blood series and is also known for his Archaia series “Lucid.” In an interview with CBR last year the writer gave his view on how the comics expand on the television Universe of True Blood.

“I think the comic can play a role in exploring areas of the ‘True Blood’ world that the show may not be able to get to,” McMillian said. “Marc [Andreyko] came up with the wonderful idea of Tru Blood bottles getting contaminated with an element that causes vampires to go crazy. Since the bottled blood is the link between vampire/human relations, it’s such a great device to mess with. Tainting that symbolic connection seemed like an apt reflection of where vampire/human relations were left off in Season 3. On another level, the theme of contamination is at play with the main cast of characters. Their lives have been drastically affected since Bill walked into Sookie’s life. Are they themselves tainted? A lot of our characters kick off the series with a longing to return to the way things were before… to reclaim a feeling of lost, perhaps even false, innocence.”

IDW announced the ‘True Blood’ ongoing series in late 2011 following three miniseries based on the television show: ‘True Blood: All Together Now,’ ‘True Blood: Tainted Love’ and ‘True Blood: The French Quarter.’
