J.J. Abrams Sells Robot Cop Show To Fox

Super television producer J.J. Abrams has just sold a new pilot to Fox.

The pilot has been pitched as a futuristic buddy cop drama set in a world where police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.

Set in Los Angeles the series is to be produced by J.H. Wyman (Fringe), who will be showrunner on the Warner Bros project. Both Wyman and Abrams will executive produce with Bryan Burke.

This new united drama as yet only has a pilot commitment from Fox, but should it take it will most likely go to a full series.

The concept of an android cop being partnered with a human is nothing new. I seem to recall seeing a movie back in the early 80s, which was likely a failed pilot and that featured an android cop. The most recent series to have an android cop though would be a show made back in 1992, which featured a very young Yancy Butler before she got the lead in the Witchblade television show. That show was called Man & The Machine and came from Law and Orders Dick Wolf.
