We’re only a week away now from Christmas Day and it seems that the new Doctor Who Christmas episode is the gift that keeps on giving.

It was recently revealed that when the Doctor lands on our TV screens on Christmas Day he would be rocking some new decor in his Tardis as in a brand new control room, but it has just been revealed that the new interior for the Tardis is not the only change that we can look forward too.

Earlier today the BBC revealed that we will be hearing a new composition of the opening music to the series as well as a new titles sequence.

In a post on the show’s official site, viewers are promised a “wonderfully dramatic and striking” new title sequence, while the new theme is described as “thrilling”, “powerful” and “scary”, whilst still remaining “true to the original” Ron Grainer composition.

Also revealed earlier today was a new prequel episode to the Snowmen, which centres on the character of Madam Vastra.

The new mini episode is titled Vastra Investigates – A Christmas Prequel – is written by Steven Moffat and features Vastra, Jenny and Strax. The mini episode establishes the relationship between Vastra, Strax and Jenny and also hints at some of the difficulties, which the Doctor will likely face in the Christmas episode.

Doctor Who – The Snowmen, which airs at 5.15 on BBC One in the UK and 9 p.m. on BBC America.
