Actor’s Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker are to reprise their Walking Dead roles of the Dixon brothers in the forthcoming Walking Dead video game, which is being developed by Activision.

‘Walking Dead: Survival Instinct’ takes place before events seen in the television series and centres on the Dixon Brothers Daryl and Merle as they fight their way across the Georgia countryside to reach Atlanta.

Game developer Terminal Reality hope that using actors from the TV show will lend the game some genuine authenticity and allow them to spring a few surprises along the way.

“Our goal is to shape Daryl authentically, chronicling everything that happens to him from the initial Wildfire Global Outbreak until he joins with Rick Grimes’s group at that quarry near Atlanta,” explained creative director Drew Haworth.

“And on the way, we’ll reveal a couple of our own interesting backstory surprises that fans haven’t already gleaned from the series.”

“Players will have the opportunity to meet some interesting characters and have a hand in deciding their fate,” he added. “Oh, and there are some really cool zombies.”

Announced earlier this year ‘Walking Dead: Survival Instinct’ is a First Person Shooter and will attempt to portray The Walkers from the series as closely as possible, including the way they react to sound and smell.

Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is tipped to release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC some time in 2013.
