Further Star Wars 3D Postponed

Breaking news from the source itself, as StarWars.com released today the following message:

“Lucasfilm has decided to postpone this fall’s scheduled release of Star Wars Episodes II and III in 3D. Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new Star Wars trilogy, we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on Star Wars: Episode VII in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans. We will post further information about our 3D release plans at a later date.”

I paid to see Episode I in 3D and it did nothing for me. Children around me, including my 10 year old daughter, who weren’t old enough to see it originally on the big screen enjoyed it, but anyone who saw it the first time left obviously nonplussed by the third dimension treatment to the film. Personally, I’m glad to see it postponed, and hopefully shot down forever. The only 3D movie I’ve seen in theaters that was worthy of the hype was A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas. That film was more enjoyable than Avatar.
