Have Plans For ‘Doctor Who’ Special 50th Anniversary Episode Been Revealed?
One story that has been ongoing and hasn’t seemed to go away is the 50th Anniversary episode of Doctor Who, which is likely to air in November.
Now it is fair to say that many fans would like to see a multi Doctor episode in a similar vain to the five doctors, but for the past year all past actors have either been saying they haven’t been approached to do one or have only really mildly teased the media about their possible potential involvement. While Christopher Eccleston has categorically said no to being in a reunion on numerous occasions. But could this have changed?
A new report released earlier this week in the Birmingham Post claims that things have changed and revealed that the Doctor Who special will involve all 11 incarnations of The Doctor, which seems to suggest that Eccelston’s relationship with the Doctor Who production office has improved somewhat.
The article in the Birmingham Post claims that Matt Smith will be joined by all 7 surviving Doctor Who actors as well as the incarnations of the Doctor that passed away.
Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant are all said to be appearing in the November one-off.
The article claims that the episode, which is penned by Steven Moffat will use studio tricks to incorporate Pertwee, Hartnell and Troughton.
The BBC is yet to confirm any official plans for the Doctor Who special, which will mark 50 years since the sci-fi drama’s first transmission on November 23, 1963.
Showrunner Moffat recently confirmed that he has “immense”, “considerable” plans for the anniversary but refused to reveal specifics.
For right this minute. I’d treat this story from the Birmingham Post as rumor. But if it were possible to see all 11 Doctors in action again. It would have to be one hell of a great story.
