James McAvoy In talks for ‘The Crow’
James McAvoy, who is best known to genre fans for his roles in ‘X-Men: First Class’ and ‘Wanted’ has apparently entered talks to take on the role of ‘The Crow’.
McAvoy is only the latest name to be connected to the new adaptation of James O’Barr’s comic, reports Bloody Disgusting.
Bradley Cooper was connected to the role for a time when 28 Weeks Later’s Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was set to helm the film. Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum have also been rumoured to star in the remake.
‘The Crow’ centres on Eric Draven, who is murdered along with his wife and rises from the dead to take revenge on their killers. F Javier Gutierrez was announced to be directing the movie from Jesse Wigutow screenplay last year.
The first movie adaptation of ‘The Crow’ was made back in 1994 when star Brandon Lee tragically died during filming when he was accidentally shot on set. A number of follow ups were made with different actors taking on the role, but none lived up to the standard set by the 1994 movie.
McAvoy is set to reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
