Jeffrey Reiner to helm ‘Sixth Gun’ Pilot

Jeffrey Reiner, who is best know for directing ‘Friday Night Lights’ is to helm the pilot of ‘Sixth Gun’ for NBC.

‘Sixth Gun’ for those that don’t know is NBC’s latest foray into adapting a comic book to the smallscreen. The comic, which was released through ONI Press was written by Cullen Bun and Brian Hurtt and is set in a wild west with a supernatural twist.

Lost producer Carlton Cuse is overseeing the show’s development, while Ryan Condal will provide a screenplay based on the Oni Press series.

Other than his work on ‘Friday Night Lights’ Reiner’s other directing credits include work on episodes of NBC’s Awake and the failed Wonder Woman pilot, which starred Adrianne Palicki.

The Sixth Gun tells the story of six pistols of otherwordly power, and charts the chaos that occurs when an innocent girl comes into possession of the last, most powerful weapon.

Bunn and Hurtt’s comic series earned a Harvey Award nomination in 2011.
