New ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ trailer ditches ominous darkness for all out action!

The latest trailer for J.J. Abrams second Star Trek movie ‘Into Darkness’ has ditched the ominous dark vibe of the previous promo spots in favor of some action and a little bit of humour.

The trailer sees Chris Pines Kirk being reprimanded by Admiral Pike and very quickly cuts to various action shots culminating in an exciting space chase in which Kirk and Spock are in hot pursuit of Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain. The chase culminates in a fairly nice one liner by Spock.

We also see a sequence of Sulu and Kirk leaping off a cliff as well as an impressive underwater sequence and a glimpse of Zoe Saldana in a rather fetching 23rd century wet suit.

After this and all the other trailers thus far. I say roll on May 9.
