Amanda Abbington discusses her ‘Sherlock’ role
Early last month it was revealed that Martin Freeman’s partner Amanda Abbington had scored herself a guest role on the hit BBC series Sherlock.
In a recent interview for the Radio Times the actress revealed that she had to really raise her acting game for the series, but only really hinted about her mystery role in the show.
“Working with Martin on Sherlock is really quite inspiring, ’cause he’s so good at his job,” she said.
“He and Ben[edict Cumberbatch] have this fantastic chemistry. Coming into Sherlock, you have to up your game, ’cause they’re so good together.”
Abbington, who is rumored to be playing Dr. Watson’s future wife Mary Morstan said that she had experienced some “mad” online interaction with Sherlock fans since her casting was announced.
Of her role, she said: “Well, was I marrying Molly [Louise Brealey] maybe? I put that [idea] on Twitter and they all went mad, all the little Sherlock nuts.
“Not mad – they’re very sweet girls. But there is a fandom.”
The third series of Sherlock is currently shooting in London and Wales.
