Marvel promises female superhero film

In his newest interview for Entertainment Weekly Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige addressed the issue of whether or not we’ll be seeing a superhero movie centred around one of marvels many female heroes.

Apparently Marvel Studios have designs on several characters from the roster of female superheroes.

“We have a number of candidates from the comics and from the movies we’ve already made,” he said. “It’s just a matter of finding the right storyline, the right filmmaker, the right time.”

Responding to a shout from the audience, he added: “She-Hulk would be pretty great.”

To date Marvel Studios have introduced one major female superhero to the line up in the form of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), who appeared in both Iron Man 2 and Avengers Assemble. But to date there hasn’t been a stand alone movie to feature a female superhero.

Feige also addressed the return of the Daredevil rights to Marvel from 20th Century Fox.

“There comes a time in contracts where, if a studio is done making the movies, [the characters] come home,” he said.

“That doesn’t mean we’re going to make another movie. But it means they’re back in the fold, which is where we want them to be.”
