Rhys Ifans, who played Dr. Curt Connors/Lizard in Amazing Spider-Man has scored a role in the hit CBS series ‘Elementary,’ which stars Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes.

Ifans will play Holmes older brother Mycroft, who in the books works for British Intelligence.

Mycroft will make his first appearance in the season two opener, which is being filmed on location in London.

The episode will see Sherlock being called to the English capital to revisit an old case, upon which he meets his brother.

Mycroft allows Sherlock and Joan, played by Lucy Liu, to stay in his home at 221B Baker Street.

“I could not be more excited to have Rhys coming aboard,” said executive producer/creator Robert Doherty. “I’ve always been a tremendous fan and feel very honoured to have him in the fold.

“Equally excited are Jonny and Lucy, both of whom have worked with Rhys in feature films. I think this is going to be a lot of fun for all of us.”
