Dealing with the passing of Christian Bale’s Batman
Not too worry Bat-folks, Christian Bale is quite alive and well, but it would seem that his portrayal of Bruce Wayne and his alter Ego, the Dark Knight has indeed come to an end. While there was indeed hope that Bale might reprise the role as Gotham’s protector, that was only if Christopher Nolan would have done a fourth installment in his Bat-visionary movie series.
Alas however, Nolan has stated that a fourth Bat movie is not going to happen so the only hope left, would have been Bale’s portrayal as the billionaire super hero Bruce Wayne in the potential and upcoming Justice League movie, but David S. Groyer, the screen writer for the upcoming League movie has said that the Batman in any League movie would be a rebooted Bat character.
Now once you hear that, you get a sense that it seems hopeless, but then to hear Bale himself confirm that he has donned a Bat-cowl for the last time would seem to bang the final nail in Bale’s Bat coffin!
While Bale says he has in no way been involved or included in any official discussions concerning the Justice League movie, he has turned the proverbial Bat-page by saying, “It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”
To be honest, I think I can see where Bale is coming from and I can imagine another actor coming to the role with his own twist on Wayne and I am sure that Bale has a valid point and he also had more to say about the end of his performance as Batman.
“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three (Bat-films). That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy,” says Bale, who also added, “Chris (Nolan) always said he wanted to make it one film at a time, and we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”
So that’s it I guess and while I will miss Bale’s Batman, I truly look forward to the next actor’s performance, as well as the depth and darkness he may be able to bring to the role and hopefully; truly make it his own!
