Dynamite bringing ‘Alice Cooper’ back to comics
Rock legend Alice Cooper is set once more to return to comic book form.
The singer, who scared the bejeezus out of old women and young children with songs such as Dead Babies, Million Dollar Baby, Only Women Bleed, Under My Wheels, Poison and a host of other songs is to be the focal point of a new comic from Dynamite Entertainment.
The new book was confirmed by Dynamite as part of their run-up to San Diego Comic Con, which opened its doors to fans yesterday.
The publisher will also be releasing a 20th anniversary reprinting of Cooper, Neil Gaiman and Michael Zulli’s The Last Temptation.
“We’re doing many cool things with Dynamite, beginning with a new comics series which I am very excited about,” said Cooper. “I always say that the best thing about being in a comic book is that they draw you with great abs.
“Artistically, for me there is hardly a better medium. There is so much you can do in the form of a comic that we’d never been able to do on stage. It’s just a different way of storytelling, and it really has almost limitless possibilities.”
The Last Temptation was originally released in three issues to support Cooper’s 1994 album of the same name.
The musician made his first appearance in comics in 1979′s Marvel Premiere #50.
The new untitled series will arrive in 2014.
