SD Comic Con: Firefly Online Announced

Fans of the cult series ‘Firefly’ and gamers alike got an eyeful yesterday at San Diego Comic Con.

About 19 hours ago QMx Interactive announced Firefly Online. A new video game based on Joss Whedon’s much loved series, which will launch next year.

The company showed a little footage from the game and initial thoughts are that it is pretty true to the look and feel of the cult series.

In the game players will take on the role of a ships Captain and much like what happened in the series. He or she will have to hired their own crew and find work out in the blackness of space, but there is also an added element of players being able to trade goods and services with other players in the online world of Firefly.

the game’s announcement sheet reads: “Much like the crew of Serenity, the Firefly-class transport ship featured in the original show, players must do whatever it takes to survive in the Verse: find a crew, find a job and keep flying.”

This to me sounds like a pretty awesome idea. And I only hope that it crosses over from the PC format to consoles as well as maybe the Mac.
