Guillermo del Toro meets giant Gundam robot
While Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro was recently in Japan with two of the movies stars, Rinko Kikuchi and Mana Ashida, in order to promote his blockbuster film, he came face to face with a life-size giant Gundam robot, which simply blew his mind!
The three Pacific Rim players were on a tour of the man-made island of Odaiba, in the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, which is home to hundreds of robot and Gundam models, as well as a GIANT and life-size Gundam model. This Gundam had the robot versus monster lover and film director in awe of the model, with a glee and twinkle in his eye surpassed only by a kid in a candy store.
Del Toro’s eagerness and affection was not only plainly evident to the Japanese television audience watching, but also infectious as the actors and Japanese television personality accompanying him were also clearly amazed at the robots scope and size!
