‘Outlander’ finds its leading lady
Starz and Ron D. Moore have found their leading lady for the new series ‘Outlander.’
According to TV Line Irish actress Caitriona Balfe will embody the role of Claire Randall in the show, which is an adaptation of the popular books by Diana Gabaldon.
The series centres on Claire Randall, who is a first world war combat nurse who finds herself whisked off in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened.
When Claire is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Caitriona Balfe’s other acting credits include a stint in the popular web series H+ as well as role in the 2013 thriller Now You See Me.
