Peter ‘Chewie’ Mahew’s knee replacement update

As of this past weekend, the Kickstarter campaign mounted in order to help the gentle and fan loved Peter Mahew, (Chewbacca) from Star Wars has ended on a high and positive note, with 1,225 fans and Chewbackers having contributed a total of $68,985.00 pledged from a total goal of $42,000.00.

As Lord Vader would say, ‘Impressive. Most Impressive!” and as of this weekend, Mr. Mahew’s Facebook page posted the following news on his recovery. Likewise, the Mahews posted a great sketch and work in progress by their daughter, Katy.

21 hours and counting, $64,913 1,147 chewbackers. Down to the last day! Today Peter stood for the first time on his new knees! Still a long way to go but everything’s starting to fall into place! 21 hours left on the kickstarter.

Katy, our daughter, has been working on a piece called “Waiting for Peter” that she’s been sketching at the hospital. It’s a simple and tasteful piece that expresses what we’re all waiting for… Check it out below! The original will be posted as well as a 11×17 limited 30 print run of this just for the Kickstarter.  Thumbnail provided is a work in progress. It will be inked and completed during Peter’s recovery.

Best of luck and continued success in your recovery Mr. Mayhew, May the Force be with you!
