IDW preview their final ‘Doctor Who’ comic

This week marks the end of an era for both ‘Doctor Who’ and IDW Comics who have been doing a great job of bringing ‘Doctor Who’ to the comic book arena since 2008.

The final comic book story, which is a special is titled ‘The Girl Who Loved Doctor Who’ and is written by Paul Cornell and drawn by Jimmy Broxton. The story sees the Doctor Encounter Matt Smith as well as the world of Doctor Who fans.

“In this special one-shot story celebrating the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, a strange force flings the TARDIS and the Doctor into our own universe,” said IDW.

“Once here, the Doctor encounters a 10-year-old girl who happens to be a huge fan of the Doctor Who TV show.

“The Doctor grapples with being a fictional character and monsters lurking at the girl’s school on the way to coming face-to-face with the actor who portrays him, Matt Smith!”

Paul Cornell is currently working on ‘The Wolverine’ for Marvel Comics, but also wrote the highly successful two part Doctor Who episode ‘Human Nature,’ which was adapted from his Virgin Books Doctor Who novel.

Jimmy Broxton worked with Cornell on the much loved ‘Knight and Squire’ mini series, which was released through DC comics a couple of years back.

Broxton has also worked on Madefire’s The Engine.

Doctor Who ‘The Time of the Doctor’ will air on Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25) at 7.30pm on BBC One.

It will mark Smith’s final episode in the starring role.

Doctor Who Special 2013 #1 will be released on December 24.
