No new ‘Indiana Jones’ movies for 2 or 3 years
For a good few years now there has been talk of a sequel to ‘Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull,‘ which didn’t go down to well with critics and some fans, but did do enough box office to warrant a sequel.
The talk was silenced last year when Disney brought out Lucasfilm and announced their new ‘Star Wars’ trilogy,’ but Disney have now revealed their plans for Indy.
According to a report at Digital Spy Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn has said that the studio is yet to finalise plans for what the fifth instalment in the Lucasfilm franchise will be about.
“We haven’t done anything,” he said at a Variety breakfast. “We don’t have a story. We need a story.”
He added that it did not make sense for Disney to move ahead on the project until it had finalised its purchase of the marketing and distribution rights to the franchise from Paramount Pictures. That deal was completed earlier in December.
Horn also revealed that the script for Star Wars Episode VII is yet to be delivered and is expected in January.
Horn reiterated that Disney would be releasing a ‘Star Wars’ movie annually starting with episode 7, which is scheduled for a December 2015 release.
The last Indiana Jones movie was released in 2008 after a 19 year gap. Harrison Ford who plays the titular character is on the record for saying he’d be happy to reprise the role if the script and storyline is right.
