Series 4 & 5 of ‘Sherlock’ already plotted

Sherlock season

Co-creator of ‘Sherlock’ Steven Moffat has revealed that the fourth and fifth series has already been plotted out.

Speaking at a screening for the series three finale, ‘His Last Vow’, Moffat told fans that he was already thinking ahead for future episodes of the detective series.

“Rather excitingly, Mark [Gatiss] and I, for no particular reason, we just got out of the rain and sat at the top of the [Sherlock] production bus and we just started plotting out what we could do in the future,” said Moffat.

“And we plotted out the whole of series four and five.

“So we have got plans – but our plans don’t tend to be, ‘Let’s blow up the world or cast the most famous person in the world’, they tend to be, ‘What exciting twists and turns can we add to this?’ And I think we’ve got some crackers.

“The ideas we had that day, I thought, were the best we’ve ever had.”

A fourth series of ‘Sherlock’ is yet to be confirmed by the BBC, but it was strongly hinted at that there would be a fourth series in an issue of the Radio Times last year. Scheduling for series four will depend on the schedules of its lead stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Sherlock’s series three finale, ‘His Last Vow’, airs on Sunday, January 12, at 8.30pm on BBC One.
