‘Star Wars: Boba Fett ‘ movie in the works?

Boba Fett

The rumour concerning a Boba Fett spin-off movie has been doing the rounds in the ‘Star Wars’ universe since before Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, but it seems that the rumour is gaining some serious momentum as the the 2015 launch date for the new ‘Star Wars’ sequel movies looms closer.

During early 2013 there was a news story released that hinted at a Han Solo, Boba Fett and Yoda spin-film to compliment the sequel movies. Thus far very little has been reported on the Yoda and Han Solo film, but late last week a story broke that strongly suggested that there is movement on the Boba Fett film.

In a recent appearance on AMC’s Movie Talk show ‘Metalocalypse’ helmer Jon Schnepp gave some insight into the state of the ‘Star Wars’ films and was adamant that a Boba Fett movie was in the works, but it gets even better. Apparently the movie is written by Lawrence Kasdan, who as ‘Star Wars’ fans know wrote two of the best chapters of the original ‘Star Wars’ film trilogy.

Schepp said: “One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact.

“I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”

In a report last February Disney confirmed that they’d be doing three spin – off movies alongside their planned sequel trilogy.

The spinoff films will be released within the same timeframe as the three main Stars Wars movies planned by Disney.

Star Wars Episode VII is scheduled for a December 18, 2015 cinema release. It is yet to announce any official castings.

If this story pans out to be true. Then I for one will definitely be heading to the cinema to see this. For my money Lawrence Kasdan’s involvement with the original ‘Star Wars’ movies is something that was woefully missing from the terrible prequel trilogy. Fact is you can pretty much credit Kasdan’ with the creation of Boba Fett and I can’t think of anyone better to write a movie centred on everyones favourite intergalactic bounty hunter.
