1978 was over 30 years ago. I hate to say this, but nostalgia for original BG is like nostalgia for "The Montefuscos." That doesn't mean the concept wasn't great (and translated superbly into the 2000s remake, with a "retelling" of the myth, much as the Greek and Roman legends were retellings of similar myth-constructs). If they want to take on a re-retelling, one that's different from the Edward Olmos/Jamie Bamber vehicle (which I reiterate was superb), so be it, and I wish them well; the analogy above re: JJ Abrams "Star Trek" reimagining is an apt one. But Richard Hatch and everyone who fetishizes him need to do a mental hip-check and move on with their lives. It's like The Sopranos: OVER.

I think if they look at what worked for J.J. Abrams Star Trek, take some notes and do a Galactica movie with a similar approach to that. Then you're likely onto a winner.

As RDM, easily surpassed. The drama's we have here in the UK surpass RDM's writing every day with one hand tied behind their back.

RDM made Galactica far too series, too political and took all the humour out of it.

Now me a remake of Galactica should have lasers, an orchestral epic score and camaraderie. Though my version wouldn't have the Muffit thing or the kid.

Given that Singer is helming this one, I could easily see a fusion of his and Ron Moore's "serious" sensibilities, combined with the mythology of the original 1978 series. Lose the cheese, keep the edge, in other words.

That said, RDM's series is still one seriously tough act to surpass. I'll be watching this project's development with interest.

I want lasers, music and the original cylons. If they do this I'll be happy. No bullets please!

As far as I'm aware. It's going to be a reboot in the spirit of the original series. Only without the cheese, but with the mythology but updated for today's audience.

I doubt it will be in the same vain as Ron Moores BSG though.

I hope this is a continuation of the classic series and use orginal actors. I seen Richard Hatch's trailer he tried to do about 10 years ago. I thought it was good. Yes, the classic series is kinda cheesy but if you look at the stories themselves, look past the cheese. I liked the mythology of the 70s verion of BS Galactica. The reason reimangined shows do poorly is because they totally revamp it and lose what made it great in the first place. BS Galactica should have gotten a second season but it was cancelled because it was to expensive to make every week. They got good ratings. Well there's my comment. Thanks
