Teaser For BBC’s Merlin Hits UK Cinema

In a bold move to raise awareness for their much anticipated piece of television fantasy – the BBC has released a teaser trailer for Merlin that has been showing on a regular bases at UK cinema’s.

The series gives an alternate take on the story of King Arthur and his ally the Wizard Merlin. Merlin is described by producer Johnny Capps as Camelot The Early Years – and the series follows the premise of a young Prince Arthur being befriended a young wizard called Merlin who has only just moved to Camelot which is a province that has outlawed the use of all magic.

Sky One Gets Caprica

UK based Battlestar Galactica fans will be pleased to know that British Satellite General Entertainment Network Sky One will continue to support the series – and plan to show Caprica. The Prequel story to Battlestar Galactica this November.

Sky plan to show the new back door pilot in both standard definition and HD and according to TV & Satellite Week are excited to be showing what many are describing as the first Science Fiction based family saga.

Synopsis: Set 51 prior to the events of Battlestar Galactica (2003), this prequel will explore the lives of two families: the Graystones – include father Daniel, a computer genius, mother Amanda, a brilliant surgeon and their daughter, Zoe – and the Adamas. The two families are on opposing sides of the decision to create the Cylons: intelligent robots that will one day rebel and nearly annihilate the residents of Caprica.

Caprica stars Eric Stoltz as Daniel Graystone the man responsible for creating the Cylons. Paula Malcomson plays Graystones unfaithful neurosurgeon wife and Esai Morales plays Graystones rival and lawyer Joseph Adama – Father to Battlestar Galactica’s Admiral William Husker Adama.

The classic ITV series Tales of Unexpected, featuring stories from writers such as Roald Dahl and Somerset Maughan, is to be released as a Region 2, 19-disc DVD release by Network on 6th October 2008, RRP £99.99.

Although the production may occasionally seem a little dated by today’s TV standards, strong scripts and some superb casting offer many gripping half hours of entertainmen throughout this anthology series. tSuspense and startling twists mix with black humour to make the show compelling viewing.

An incredible line-up of actors appear in the series, including Derek Jacobi, Joan Collins, Sir John Gielgud, Ian Holm, Brian Blessed, Zoe Wanamaker, Richard Briers, Nigel Havers and Sir John Mills – all helping to bring these twisted tales to life.

Roald Dahl also provides an insightful introduction at the beginning of each episode in series one and two, providing the viewer with background information and the development of each story.
