Stripping the latest season of Torchwood across the week continues to pay dividends for BBC1, with last night’s episode getting its highest audience yet with 6.2m viewers (a 27% share), trouncing all opposition.
The latest episode, which saw Harkness and his team try to take the initiative and fight back against the 456, netted ratings of 6.3m (27.1%) in the last 15 minutes from 9.45pm.
So far, the third season has averaged 5.9m (25.9%), with a dip on Tuesday but viewing figures have climbed since, with trad Magazine Brodacast reporting the series has been getting a very strong “upmarket viewer” audience.
Last night’s episode was up on the slot average so far this year of 4.6m (20%) by 34.7% and comprehensively dominated viewing at the time.
The series bows out with the Torchwood team sidelined as humankind is forced to cut a deal with the alien 456 or face annihilation. How will the invaders be beaten?
