Spiner Supportive Of New Movie

The new issue of SFX Magazine features a pretty extensive interview with actor Brent Spiner who talked briefly about Star Trek and his many other projects.
When talking on the subject of Star Trek icons – and if he feels that he will ever enjoy the same status as Captain Kirk or Mr Spock the actor joked.
“Who are Kirk and Spock anyway? [Laughs] No, I haven’t a clue. That’s not really for me to say, and I guess time will tell. We’re in the cultural icon business, right? I don’t know how long it will last – will they be talking about any of it in 100 years, or will there be another Star Trek on TV still in 100 years? Probably so, if they’ve got any sense. It’ll just be way better effects. I don’t know, they’ll be right in your living room doing it…”
When asked about the new Movie – and his feelings about it not being a new TNG film he laughed and asked what movie?
“I don’t really feel anything about it. I think about it, and I hope it’s successful. And it’s really possible, I think they are really good people at the helm. J.J. Abrams is a talented guy and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be successful. But I don’t think any of us expected to be in it or part of it. We’ve done our deal – now onto ‘the next generation.’”
You can read more of this interview with Brent Spiner where he talked about his acting – starting out and his feelings about the cancelled television series Fringe – in the new issue of SFX, which is out now.
