Producer Wants Shatner For T.J. Hooker

AdrianZmed_TJHookerLast week we picked up on reports that there was a movie in the works, which is to be based on the 1980’s T.J. Hooker series, which gave William Shatner a regular television role during the 1980’s between Star Trek movies.

Apparently it has been revealed that producer Ryan Heppe would very much like to see Shatner take a role in his movie adaptation of the series, but would also like to include co – stars Heather Locklear, James Darren, Richard Herd and Adrian Zmed.

“We absolutely want to try and get the original cast in the movie. It’s all about finding the right story motivations to include their characters so we’re not just stopping the movie to drop by Adrian Zmed’s house, you know?” Said Heppe in a brief interview for the New York Post.

Of course in order to bring Shatner into the project they’d need the right sort of story as well as a role that would be respectful of Shatners status. That said a few years ago we got to see Shatner send up his role of Hooker in the failed Robert DeNiro and Eddie Murphy film Showtime.

During the early days of making Star Trek J.J. Abrams, Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman desperately tried to include Shatner in their movie, but Shatner rather famously said that he does not “do cameos.” So one would think that Heppe would need to write a substantial role for Shatner in his T.J. Hooker movie if he stands any chance of getting him to sign up for the movie.
