One of the surprise hit series of early 2009 was Being Human, which originally aired on BBC Three. The series, which centres on a Werewolf, Vampire and a Ghost on a house share in Bristol has just started to air on BBC America and is prepping to return to BBC Three early next year.

In a group interview for SciFi Wire at this weeks Television Critics Association summer press tour Series writer Toby Whithouse and cast members Leonor Crichlow, Russell Tovey and Aidan Turner shared some hints on what fans can expect to see in the second season of Being Human.

As viewers already know. Much of last season focused on our heroes trying to blend in with human society, while vampire Mitchell tried to keep his former Vampire friends at bay, and prevent them from raging a war against humanity.

According to Russell Tovey who plays George the Werewolf season two of the series is likely to emphasize the groups collective fear of being discovered by humans for the monsters they are, subsequently meaning that we may well get to see the monster that humanity can turn into when faced with something different that they don’t understand.

“Being exposed is their, especially George’s, biggest fear,” Tovey said. “I think when he puts himself in a position when he’s in contact with human beings, that runs the risk of more exposure.”

“Now it’s the human which is way more bloody scary in my book,” Turner said in a separate group interview. “That’s something we can’t control. We’ve read the first three, and they’re amazing. They’re getting to places that we didn’t think they’d go to.”

All this aside writer Toby Whithouse is quick to point out that there will be plenty more monsters of the none human variety that fans can look forward too. “[It's] inevitably [supernatural], because they’re never going to lose their curses,” Whithouse said.

Whithouse will stick to his core three species, though: werewolves, ghosts and vampires. “Not out of any kind of editorial policy, just because I can’t really think of one that wouldn’t somehow break the genre,” he said. “We’ve thought about ‘Oh, we could put a zombie in.’ Then somehow it just instinctively doesn’t feel right. I can’t tell you why, but it just doesn’t feel right. At the moment, it’s just our three main guys.”
