It seems to have been all happening on Doctor Who this week, and definitely an exciting time for children aged six to twelve – years old.

The long running Children’s magazine program Blue Peter, which is a show that dates back to the origins of Doctor Who if not before is running an exciting new competition, which asks viewers aged between six and twelve to design a new Tardis control panel for the series.

The winning entry will be used in an episode of the new series, which airs next year, which only further encourages the rumours that the interiors of the Tardis may well change for the new series as well.

All winning entries in the competition will be treated to an exclusive set visit on the show where they will get to meet the new Doctor Who Matt Smith and his new assistant Amy Pond who is played by Karen Gillan.

Entrants have been told that they must incorporate everyday household objects into their design.

Doctor Who production designer Edward Thomas, who is also on the judging panel, advised entrants: “Don’t come along with a design that’s finished and too technical – it needs to have a lot of character. It’s about being clever with what you find around the house and make sure it really feels as if the Doctor has put it together.”

Entries must be sent in by November 2 and more details can be found on the Blue Peter website.

Blue Peter editor Tim Levell added: “This is the latest in a long line of collaborations between Blue Peter and Doctor Who. We know our viewers absolutely love [the show] and we hope to be blown away by the originality and creativity of their concepts.”
