stargate-universe1aProving that its first week was no fluke. Syfy Channels new original series Stargate Universe has once again proved a roaring success in the US ratings and had beat Joss Whedon’s second season of Dollhouse, which airs on Friday for Fox for a second week running.

According to SciFi Wire the series, which offers up a somewhat darker and grittier chapter to the extremely popular Stargate Universe managed to pull in an average of 2.5 million people. Showing a growth in viewership of 4% over the season’s premier.

The show made its biggest gains in viewers among people in the 18-49 and 25-54 age range.

The above stats also account for those that watched live and those that watched on their DVR’s. These numbers are expected to grow more when the “Live +7″ data becomes available, which will show how many people watched it during the first week it aired.

These ratings are the best for the Stargate shows since the August 5, 2005, episode of Stargate: Atlantis, which aired before DVR measurement was included in ratings.
