In Review: Sarah Jane Adventures: Prisoner Of The Judoon Parts 1 & 2

Sarah Jane AdventuresSynopsis: When a Judoon spacecraft carrying a prisoner crash lands on earth near Bannerman Road all havoc breaks out and Sarah and the gang try to intercept the Judoon before he takes out the entire city in his attempt to recapture his escaped prisoner.

The Review: After somewhat of a wait Sarah Jane Adventures is back, and much like last year it’s gotten off to a cracking start by utilizing an alien race first introduced in the Doctor Who series.

The one thing you’ll never get with SJA is dark and gritty to the same extent as the Doctor Who television series. So when watching the show you have to keep in mind that it is for the younger viewers and not expect too much. That said, there are a few laughs along the way in any given episode for the adults can enjoy and Prisoner Of The Judoon provides much humour that can be appreciated by both kids and adults.

The plot centres on an escaped alien who can inhabit any animal and human being and is wanted for having destroyed various planets. In an attempt to prevent the Judoon office known as Tybo from leveling half of London in his quest to recapture his Prisoner Sarah Jane has Luke and Rani run interference while she takes Clyde with her to try and capture the alien.

However things go wrong when the alien takes over Sarah Jane, which prompts a rather campy evil performance from Lis Sladen as Sarah Jane.
As the two parter draws to a close with the eventual recapture of the alien we see some fun moments where commander Tybo commandeers a police car and yanks the hand break out saying it’s not needed, and then proceeds to take all the speed limit signs too literally.

And Rani’s mum and dad continue to provide some comedic moments in much the same way as they did throughout the second season.

Great fun for all the family.

Score 7/10
