On Saturday, October 17, Spike TV’s Scream Awards 2009 honored achievements in science fiction, fantasy and horror during an awards ceremony that saw the latest Star Trek film win big, followed by True Blood from HBO and the first in a series of Twilight movies, according to E! Online.
Star Trek beamed up six awards in the following categories: Best Science Fiction Movie, The Ultimate Fight Scene, Best Science Fiction Actor (Chris Pine), Best Cameo (Winona Ryder), Best Director (JJ Abrams), and Fight Scene of the Year.
True Blood scared up Spike Awards for Best Horror Actor (Stephen Moyer), Best Villain (Alexander Skarsgard), Best TV Show, and Best Horror Actress (Anna Paquin).
Twilight also bit into Spike Awards for Best Fantasy Movie, Best Fantasy Actor (Robert Pattinson), Best Fantasy Actress (Kristen Stewart), and Breakout Performance-Male (Taylor Lautner).
Taylor Lautner’s win over Robert Pattison in the Breakout Performance-Male catergory caught most people’s attention that night. He also debuted footage for the movie’s sequel, New Moon.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen also collected four trophies: Best Sequel, Best Science Fiction Actress (Megan Fox), Breakout Performance-Female (Isabel Lucas), Best F/X, and Scream Song of the Year (“New Divide” by Linkin Park).
Fox, who recently made negative comments about the film’s helmer Michael Bay, tried to make amends during her acceptance speech. “I would like to take this moment to actually say something genuine. There have been a lot of false reports concerning how I feel about thismovie and I just want to be very clear that I’ve always felt that I am a very ordinary part of an extraordinary film,” said Fox. “These movies took me out of obscurity and they gave me a career and I amcompletely grateful to everyone involved with this franchise.”
