Hollywood Reporter and various other sources revealed yesterday that Syfy Channel were planning to do a 13-episode Americanized version of the hit BBC Three UK Series Being Human, which centres on a Ghost, Werewolf and Vampire that live together in a flat in Bristol.

The original series, which is to commence its second season early next year on BBC Three is produced by RDF Media for the BBC, and came into being when the audience demanded the series be made after a one off pilot movie was screened during the Spring of 2008.

Bering Human first made it onto Syfy Channel’s radar about 2 years back when the cable channel got a look at an early glimpse of the pilot script. However, Syfy passed on the series, but were always fans of the concept.

“It turned out great as we can now do an American version,” Syfy president Dave Howe said. “We’ve always been keen on vampires and werewolves, and we loved the originality of Being Human, the fact that the fantastical creatures in it are very young, accessible and charming.”

Howe went on to add that Syfy will not slavishly replicate the UK series, but instead are looking to make it relevant for the American audience.

The search is now on for a writer to pen the scripts for this American version of the hit UK show.
