Shane Black who is best known for having written the screenplay for Lethal Weapon revealed to Ain’t It Cool News that his next movie would be an adaptation of the classic 1930s pulp character Doc Savage Man of Bronze.
Black revealed that he was working on a movie adaptation of Lester Dent’s pulp icon with Star Trek producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.
Doc Savage first sprang into action during the 1930s as a scientist and explorer trained to the peak of human fitness and intellect.
This is not the first time that a movie has been attempted of Doc Savage. A television movie was made back in 1975 with well-known Tarzan actor Ron Eli in the role of Doc Savage Junior.
When asked about his plans for the movie. Black said that he thinks Doc Savage is a character that should live and breathe in the 1930s. Therefore he has no plans to update the character and premise. Essentially Black plans to adapt the original story, which is set in the 30s.
The film will see Savage team up with regular allies the Fabulous Five.
