Synopsis: The Doctor returns just in the nick of time to prevent Sarah Jane from making an awful mistake.

The Review:
As has been widely publicized. This is the adventure that guest stars David Tennant as The Tenth Doctor, and those who feared he’d take too much away from Sarah Jane and her intrepid team of teenage adventures need not have worried.

In fact the Doctor doesn’t even put in an appearance to the closing moments of the first episode, when Sarah Jane’s new boyfriend is revealed to be a pawn in a plan that has been orchestrated by the Trickster who makes his third appearance in Sarah Jane Adventures.

The story for this episode is relatively simple. The Trickster wishes to marry Sarah Jane Smith off so that she will forget about her life fighting monsters and settle into a new life with Nigel Havers, who as things turn out is a mere innocent pawn in the Tricksters game.

446doctorThe Doctor’s role in this episode mostly has him sharing time with the kids, and in doing so he doesn’t dumb the kids roles down in anyway. In fact if anything The Doctor becomes part of the team as apposed to leading the kids.

The episodes resolution is mostly down to Sarah Jane refusing to marry Nigel Havers, and even havers gets some time in the sun as he is made to realise how bad things will turn out for the world should he marry Sarah Jane and allow for the Tricksters plan to move forward unchallenged. However, this means that Havers character ultimately has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Clyde working with the Doctor gets his moment in the sun and is perhaps among thr real heroes of this episode because of the sheer fact that its clydes confrontation with Trickster that buys Sarah Jane, the Doctor and Nigel Havers character some much needed time.

Some real funny moments in this story. Some of the best being provided by K9 and Sarah Jane’s super computer Mr Smith.

Score 8/10
