Rupert Grint, the red-headed star of the Harry Potter film franchise will be playing a different role, that of Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, according to The Mirror.
The actor, who is 21 years old, has been hired to replace Steve Coogan in the movie, which will show how Edwards, a plasterer by profession, became famous during the 1988 Winter Olympics by representing Great Britain in the 70-metre and 90-metre ski jumps. He placed last in both events.
The geeky red-headed skier was criticised by professional skiers for making a mockery of the sport. However, he became well-known the world over and eventually came ninth in a speed skiing competition.
At the age of 45, Edwards, continue working on building sites and lives in Stroud, Gloucs, with his wife Sandra and their two children.
No release date for the movie has been announced. Also, this does not indicate that Ron Weasley will change houses from Gryffindor to Ravenclaw (who has an eagle as its symbol) in the next Harry Potter motion picture.
