The new ABC series ‘V’, which is a re-imagining of the 1983 Kenneth Johnson mini series has undergone a few production changes of late.
The series first ran into a bit of a snag when production was halted for a time to spend more time on the scripts. However. It now looks like changes in the production team have taken place.
Scott Peters who has been with the new series since it started production is departing the series, and coming in to replace him is former Chuck show runner Scott Rosenbaum.
Peters who is best known for his work on The 4400 has developed the new series of ‘V’ since day one, and even brought in several cast members from 4400, most notable of which is Joel Gretsch.
Here is how The Wrap reported the news:
Peters will retain an executive producer credit on “V.” But Rosenbaum, an executive producer on “Chuck” (and “The Shield”), will now be at the helm.
The showrunner shift had been anticipated in Hollywood circles for weeks, since ABC and Warner Bros. TV made the joint decision to halt production on the series in order to get scripts in shape. According to USA Today, which broke the news of the shuffle, Peters was removed from his post last Thursday.
Added to Scott Peters departure The Chicago Tribune has reported that executive producer/writer, Jeffrey Bell (Harper’s Island, Angel), is expected to leave. Peters is expected to remain on the V staff and write for the show.
As is widely known. The show has been through quite a bit of upheaval with breaks in production for some time. Not to mention the final fight scene in the pilot episode having to be reshot so it can include a new alien piece of tech known as the seeker.
The first of four V episodes airs tonight. After four eps, the show will take a hiatus until March.
