Yesterday saw the release of the much anticipated Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which has not only created much controversy with it’s near future storyline, which involves terrorism and such, but has also sparked a price war amongst many of the UK’s biggest software retailers.

The First Person Shooter has been the subject of controversy due to Activision feeling the need to pick their customers pockets for a whopping £54.99. Apparently no one told them their was a recession on, but the worst part is. All you get for that is the game.

Anyway, despite this attempted money grab by Activision retailers such as Sainsbury’s have been selling the game for as little as £26 on certain formats. Additionally HMV are letting it go for £9.99 if Tekken 6, Uncharted 2 or Forza 3 are traded in.

Asda has slapped a £32 price tag on it, with competitors Tesco selling it for £37.90, or £25 if another chart title is bought with it.

Online Retailer Play.com who usually sell at a lower rate than the High Street are selling the game at £44.99, which essentially means your better served going out to a store for this one.

Meanwhile specialised gaming store Game and Blockbuster are offering trade in deals for the game. Game are willing to ket their copies go for £25 if certain game titles are traded, whereas Blockbuster are willing to let it go for as little as £19 under a similar deal.
