Those who follow history, and those fans that enjoy the character of Tesla in the Syfy Channel series Sanctuary will likely find the following of interest.

New Film Unearths A Dark Secret Surrounding Renowned Inventor

Some of the world’s greatest minds have been all but forgotten in the pages of history. Their innovations and concepts were far to radical and progressive for the scholars of their day to grasp. Nikola Tesla, considered by many to be the most brilliant mind of the modern era, is one such man. The new science-fiction thriller, The Tesla Device, centers around the discovery of a strange device whose origin may be linked to the mysterious and controversial inventor.

The trailer for this new indie project from Pruitt Films is now available at the productions official website, www.tesladevice-movie.com.  Also featured are extensive interviews with the cast and crew, production stills and information concerning Nikola Tesla.

Writer/Director, Joey Pruitt, was drawn to the concept because of his interest in Tesla’s mysterious past. “I’ve always been fascinated with the early inventors,” said Pruitt. “ I wanted to craft a story around the unknowns and conspiracies surrounding Tesla and his work.”

The film follows Tommy (Andrew McClure) as he struggles to come to grips with his mothers untimely death. While settling her estate, Tommy is surprised to learn that he has inherited his great grandfathers abandoned home. Hidden in the house for decades, Tommy stumbles across a  mysterious device that will change his life forever. With the help of his friend Alex (Michael Tarver) and his girlfriend Hailey (Whitney Sullins), Tommy endeavors to bring light to the twisted and dark past that shrouds the device.

As extraordinary events begin to unfold in Tommy’s life, the ominous Faraday (Frank Warlick) arrives to retrieve the device. Faraday warns Tommy that his dangerous flirtation with the power of the device could cause irrevocable harm to himself and all who come in contact with it. Tommy must choose between returning the device to Faraday or exploring its unknown potential, all leading up to an ending that questions what science and history has tried to explain away.

Joey Pruitt began his film career in the fields of special effects, makeup and digital effects. For his directorial debut, he has assembled a crew of talented and experienced people with whom he has worked with on previous projects. “Throughout this whole process, I’ve been lucky to get everyone I’ve wanted to sign on to this project,” said Pruitt. “Bill (Schweikert), Ed (Lima), Toby (Sells) and I have been looking for a project to work on as a group and all of the pieces came together for this project.” Director of photography, Bill Schweikert, was particularly excited to work on the film because of its connections with Nikola Tesla. “The thing about The Tesla Device that got us all excited was not just Tesla’s contributions to technology,” said Schweikert, “but also his sense of showmanship and mystery.”.
